St. Patrick Parish CYO Basketball Program
CYO Athletics is not just about the final score…its about positive coaching, sportsmanship for children and their parents, learning to live together in a diverse community, maximizing talents, and fostering the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual strength in each of us.
The CYO Athletics program is designed to be representative of the Christian values of respect, love, compassion and support for each other. Through sports, competition and teamwork, CYO Athletics provides healthy growth and development through games, practices and the life lessons that sports teach.
Registration is open to all regular and religious education 4-8th grade students of St. Patrick School; children of registered parishioners of St. Patrick Church and to children of the general public who reside within the parish boundaries of St. Patrick Church. 3rd graders play in the Dirt Bowl under Kerry Huffman. Dirt Bowl is not affiliated with St. Patrick's CYO.
Priority registration is given in the following order:
1. Enrolled at St. Patrick School or St. Patrick CFF
2. Players residing within the St. Patrick Church boundaries
COST: $250.00 Per Child - Payments will be processed through on-line registration. Refunds will not be issued unless your child cannot be placed on a team. If you have any special financial concerns regarding fees or the cost of uniforms, e-mail us. Please complete your payment when you register. Players will not be placed on a team until is payment is received.
Each player will be responsible for purchasing a new St Patrick CYO Basketball uniform (jersey and shorts). The cost of the uniform is estimated to be $60.00. The uniform style will hopefully be the same for a few seasons, however, manufacturers have been known to change mid-stream. We anticipate that your child will be able to use the uniform for 2 seasons. We use T&B Sports in San Rafael for our uniform orders.
TEAM ASSIGNMENTS: The St Patrick CYO Committee follows an unbiased evaluation process to create teams. The objective is to match the skill level of players to the team that best fit their ability. The St Patrick CYO Committee will approve, sanction, and have final authorization over the formation of all teams following the formal evaluation process. Coaches will contact the kids directly on their team assignments later in October or early November. It may be as long as 2 weeks after the last evaluation before teams are finalized and players notified.
PARTICIPATION IN PLAYER EVALUATIONS FOR "A" TEAM SELECTIONS ARE MANDATORY. Evaluations will be held the weeks of October 10 – 27 (specific dates and times TBD). We will have (1) A team evaluation per grade (Boys and Girls). Due to limited gym space during October, the evaluations will be spread out over a 2-week period. Times and Dates will be forwarded when available. We are tentatively planning on holding evaluations on Sunday afternoon/evening 10/15 and 10/22 and during selected weekday evenings. Bear with us as gym availability is tough in the fall. All players are encouraged to attend the evaluation as it helps not only allow for the A team selection, but assists in the B team assignments.
